Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan on Wednesday arrived Nigeria after about 8 weeks of absence. The First Lady arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja aboard an aircraft with registration number 5N-FGN. She was received by a number of government functionaries and a crowd of PDP supporters at the airport.
Though the Presidency has kept mum about the First Lady’s health and no official statement has been released, Her Excellency’s aides posited that she just needed to take some rest after the rigours of African First Ladies’ Peace Mission which was held in Abuja. It was even said by some that she took time off to rest this time as she did not rest after the 2011 elections in which she went round the country to solicit for votes for her husband.
Not long after she left however, news started filtering in that Mrs Jonathan was on admission in a hospital, Horst Schmidt Klinik in Wiesbaden, Germany.
In an apparent bid to clarify issues, a clip of President Jonathan visiting his wife in Germany was aired on Nigeria’s national television last week.
