The National Universities Commission (NUC) has lifted the suspension of the operational licence of Lead City University, Ibadan.
This was conveyed to the university in a letter signed by Professor C.F. Mafiana, Director of Quality Assurance, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NUC and addressed to the university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Onabanjo. The commission said, “the suspension of the operational licence of Lead City University has been lifted with effect from Tuesday, 18 September, 2012.”
The commission, however, added that it would continue to monitor the implementation of the agreed actions in respect of the outcomes of the report of the forensic audit and would not hesitate to impose appropriate sanctions should there be any observed breach.
In its reaction, the university assured the NUC that all the quality assurance directives contained in the forensic audit report would be implemented to the letter.
In a statement signed by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications, Dr Ayobami Owolabi, the university expressed its appreciation to “the leadership and members of the House of Representatives and members of the Federal executive Council for their guided and mediatory interventions.
