JIMOH IBRAHIM SHUTS DOWN AIR NIGERIA

Billionaire businessman, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim, has shut down all Air Nigeria flight operations nationwide effective from Monday.Ibrahim also announced that all but 50 staff has been sacked with immediate effect. He said the airline will be shut down for one year.
The airline had continued to run regional and international flights after the government suspended its domestic operations on bankruptcy allegations a few months ago.
Air Nigeria claimed that it is temporarily shutting down its operation because of staff disloyalty and anti-business environmental in the aviation sector.

WOMAN KEEPS BABY GIRL IN FREEZER FOR 10YEARS

A manslaughter investigation has been opened against a 49-year-old woman after the corpse of a new-born baby girl was found in her freezer after 10 years on Tuesday in Germany.
The grisly find was made by her former husband on Friday when he defrosted the freezer in the house where they used to live, said prosecutors in the northern city of Flensburg.
It was not clear whether the baby was alive or dead when placed in the freezer, investigators said. There were no signs she had been violently treated but authorities confirmed the baby was not stillborn.
The woman, who has not been named, has admitted the baby was hers and said she was “in a state of complete exhaustion and hopelessness” at the time.

The couple already had three, now fully grown, children and divorced in 2009

'GODMOTHER OF COCAINE' GRISELDA BLANCO GUNNED DOWN BY ASSASSIN IN COLUMBIA

A 69-year-old woman known throughout the drug world as the "Godmother of Cocaine" was gunned down by an assassin on a motorcycle in Colombia Monday, according to international news reports.
Griselda Blanco, once listed alongside Pablo Escobar as one of the "most notorious drug lords of the 1980s" by the Drug Enforcement Administration, was fatally shot as she left a butcher's shop in western Medellin Monday afternoon, according to a report by Univision and El Colombiano. Colombia's El Espectador reported authorities are looking for Blanco's killers and are investigating possible motives for the killing.
Blanco served nearly 20 years in an American prison on drug trafficking charges and was at one point tied to as many as 40 murders in the U.S., according to a 1997 Senate testimony given by then-director of DEA international operations Michael Horn. Horn said that Blanco ordered a Florida mall shooting in 1979 that left two dead and four injured, and she apparently enjoyed her line of work.
"To foster her reputation as the 'Godmother' of cocaine, [Blanco] named her fourth son Michael Corleone, after the fictional mob character portrayed in the movie 'The Godfather,'" Horn said.
Court documents filed in 1988, three years after Blanco was caught, detail the shadowy, decade-long hunt for the queenpin that involved federal agents chasing false identities and checking Miami hospitals for gunshot wound victims that matched Blanco's description. But she wasn't able to elude them forever and after being captured in 1985 in Irvin, Calif. and serving nearly two decades behind bars in America, Blanco was released from prison and deported back to Colombia in 2004.

FIRST LADY HOSPITALIZED IN GERMANY

Sources in Abuja state house squealed that Mrs. Patience Jonathan has been in a hospital in Germany in the last four days, undergoing treatment for food poisoning.
The reliable sources say Mrs. Jonathan, who is also a Permanent Secretary in the Bayelsa State civil service, was airlifted to the hospital by an air ambulance in midweek under emergency medical conditions.
Presidency sources stated that the emergency airlift departed for Wisbanden, Germany, but it is not clear if her treatment was being undertaken in that city. They said she was only able to speak earlier today, four days after her arrival, because the illness had been so severe that she lost her voice.
They could not say when she will return to the country. Meanwhile Nigeria’s political leaders and their families routinely seek expensive medical attention abroad, an irony occasioned by their failure to develop the same facilities at home. In the past few years, two former First Ladies have died on foreign hospital beds.
